Buying a Dog
How do I know which training program is right for my dog?
The appropriate program depends on your dog’s age, temperament, current behavior, previous training and the results you want to achieve. Start by sharing information through the Get Started form. Native K9 may recommend an evaluation before confirming a program.
Does my dog need an evaluation?
An evaluation may be recommended when a dog has behavioral concerns, an unclear training history or needs a customized program recommendation. Native K9 will determine whether an evaluation is necessary after reviewing your initial information.
What age can a puppy begin training?
Puppies can begin learning structure, routines and age-appropriate skills as soon as they enter the home. The Native K9 Puppy Development Program is designed for puppies approximately 8 weeks through 5 months of age.
Can Native K9 help with fear, reactivity or aggression?
Native K9 has experience working with dogs presenting fear, anxiety, reactivity, aggression and other complex behavioral concerns. Each case is evaluated individually to determine whether Native K9 is the appropriate fit and which training approach should be considered.
Will my dog still listen to me after a board-and-train program?
A board-and-train program establishes skills and structure, but owner participation remains essential. Native K9 provides transition guidance so owners understand how to communicate with their dog and maintain the training at home.
Do you guarantee training results?
Every dog, owner, household and behavioral concern is different. Training outcomes depend on the dog’s temperament, the selected program, owner participation and consistency after training. Native K9 does not promise identical results for every dog.
Does Native K9 offer trained dogs for placement?
Yes. Native K9 may offer carefully selected and professionally trained dogs for approved homes. Availability changes throughout the year, and not every dog is suitable for every family.
How does the matching process work?
Native K9 considers the client’s household, experience, lifestyle, training expectations, children, other pets and long-term goals. The objective is to find an appropriate match rather than place a dog solely on appearance or breed preference.
What information is provided about an available dog?
Each listing should include the dog’s age, breed, registration when applicable, training level, temperament summary, price, photographs and available training videos. Additional health and background information will be discussed during the placement process.
Can out-of-state clients work with Native K9?
Native K9 is based in Atlanta and primarily serves Greater Atlanta. Select out-of-state clients may be accepted for eligible residential training programs or trained-dog placements by arrangement. Transportation and transfer details are discussed individually
Can I meet an available dog before making a decision?
Meetings may be arranged for qualified prospective clients based on the dog’s availability, location and placement process. Contact
